In this interview, Nikolyn Garner talks with Rochelle Kulei--a renowned artist, educator and member of the Northwestern Band of the Shoshone Nation--about her artistic practice, sources of inspiration, background and work as an educator. Rochelle is on the Art faculty at Portland Community College.

Nikolyn Garner (Kansas/Oneida/Cherokee) is an artist, art historian, curator and educator. She is on the faculty at both the University of Montana and Portland Community College (PCC) in Oregon. She conceptualized and is organizing and producing the “Voices of Indigenous Artists” project.

The “Voices of Indigenous Artists” project has the intention of bringing Indigenous voices into the art history classroom. It is a collaborative project made possible with the help of the:
